| David Magán, born in Madrid (1979) is a glass sculptor. He trained in the Escuela de Artes y Oficios in Madrid where he specialised in wood and iron and quickly began to show a strong interest in glass. From his in-depth study of this field he has developed a personal technique in which he fuses the chromatic compartmentalization by means of shapes of stained-glass and a spacial concept inherent in sculptural and architectural procedures. Consequently, his pieces become a continuous experimental process of the development that light and colour describe in their dialogue with space. Open or closed, dynamic or static, each of these pieces constitutes a complex game where the spectator confronts different possibilities: on one hand the active and relished contemplation of the pictorial forms or, on the other, the movement and tensions that three-dimensional pieces demand. |
